Chris Duncan

Sculptor Chris Duncan’s solo exhibitions include recent shows at the Bruno Marina Gallery, the Saratoga Arts Center, New York, and Nanjing University in China; group exhibition venues include the University of Hawaii, the North Shore Sculpture Park (Illinois), the Franconia Sculpture Park (Massachusetts) and the New York Studio School, curated by Irving Sandler. Duncan has been the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship, Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant, and numerous awards from the New York Foundation for the Arts.

My materials—steel, wood, plasters and cement, found objects, wax modeled for bronze casting—allow an immediacy in the working process that is important to me. The sculptures are abstract, and though I often associate particular pieces with a certain set of emotions or memories, they are not tied to a specific meaning. The pleasure or the impact is meant to be visual.” - CD, 2002
